Qualifications Required in Seed Potatoes for Some Potato Diseases Which are Known as Quality Diseases in the Framework of Plant Quarantine Regulation of Article 5 are as Follows

 

2% of seed potato consignments are inspected. Sample as 5% of inspected material is taken and examine in respect of quality diseases by inspectors taking into consideration the following standards.

Furthermore 200 tubers for per 100 tones are sent to the laboratory on to be examined in terms of quarantine diseases.

1. Powdery Scab , (Spongospora subterranea)

The weight of potato tubers of which a third and more of tuber surface is covered by disease symptoms can not exceed 5% of sample weight.

2. Common Scab (Streptomyces spp)

The weight of potato tubers of which a third and more of tuber surface is covered by disease symptoms can not exceed 5% of sample weight.

3. Black Scurf (Rhizoctonia solani)

The weight of potato tubers of which a 10% and more of tuber surface is covered by disease symptoms can not exceed 8% of sample weight.

4. Silver Scurf (Helminthosporium solani)

The weight of tubers which are started to shrink(=loose turgor) by reason of silver scurf and affect at least one eye can not exceed 5% of sample weight

5. Dry Rot (Fusarium spp.):

The weight of tubers which are contaminated with dry rot disease (Fusarium spp.) can not exceed 2% of sample weight.

6. Late Blight (Phytophthora infestans):

The weight of tubers which show the symptoms of late blight (Phytophthora infestans) can not exceed 6% of sample weight.
